NUS Medicine – BSL-3 Core Facility (Virology)

The Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) Core Facility is the largest research-focused biocontainment facility in Singapore. This world-class facility supports research and diagnostic work involving a range of risk group 3 pathogens.

The successful candidate will be assigned to support risk group 3 (RG3) research activities including animal experimental work after providing training in both BSL-3 laboratory routine work practices and emergency response SOPs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be familiar with molecular virology as well as high content screening technologies for antiviral drug discovery and translational antiviral strategies development.

Responsibilities

  • Performing cutting-edge research using molecular biology, virology and proteomics approaches for antiviral strategies developments
  • Perform antiviral research with murine models of infection
  • Laboratory management
  • Supervision of graduate or undergraduate students

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Laboratory Sciences/Biomedical Sciences/Life Sciences or equivalent degree
  • Minimum 2 years experiences working in BSL-2 laboratory is required
  • Prior experience in NGS, molecular virology, reverse genetics for creating infectious virus clones, murine model of virus infection or working in BSL3 environment are preferred
  • Experience in microbiology related lab work, basic molecular biology, and cellular biology techniques
  • Experience in animal handling will be an added advantage
  • Ability to speak and write well in English
  • A positive attitude with a good team player
  • Excellent interpersonal communications (oral and written) skills with attention to details
  • Highly motivated with willing to learn new techniques/software, etc
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment including respiratory protection equipment during the experiment period
