Pro Vice-Chancellor, International

Competitive salary         Luton with travel to other campuses

The University of Bedfordshire is a modern, innovative university with an educational heritage going back more than 100 years. We nurture our  students, many the first members of their families to go to university, so that they can become educated, employable and entrepreneurial global citizens. We are a diverse community: around 70% of our students are mature and around 55% BAME. This profile drives our new strategy and is deeply reflected in our values.

We are now seeking to make three leadership appointments: the Pro Vice-Chancellors for Education and Student Experience; International; and Research and Innovation. All three postholders will report to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rebecca Bunting, and will join the University at a time of great opportunity and strategic renewal.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor, International, will have strategic responsibility for all aspects of the University’s international business including student recruitment and transnational education as well as our broader international interests. The postholder will line manage the Head of the International Office and will have responsibility for our international student recruitment targets, the development of our TNE portfolio and compliance with UKVI requirements. The postholder will also be a champion for our international students, ensuing that they have an outstanding experience. We want to increase our global reach, so the new Pro Vice-Chancellor will also need to be enterprising, seeking out new opportunities for international partnerships and collaborations.

You will bring significant leadership experience in higher education and in-depth knowledge of the factors and trends affecting international higher education. You will have a track record of developing internationalisation strategies that have led to increased international student numbers, both on- and off-campus. You will bring an enterprising outlook with the ability to work with a broad range of partners and stakeholders to deliver collaborative international projects. Our successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a collaborative approach to leadership and the ability to lead change and nurture talent within an enabling culture.

At a time of great change in our sector, this role offers the opportunity for the successful candidate to make a major, lasting contribution the success of the University and all those it serves.
