We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Ecology in the Department of Biological Sciences within the School of Life Sciences and the Environment.

We invite applications from candidates with research interests in ecology, and with the ability to teach in our undergraduate programmes in this area. We are looking for candidates with an excellent publication record, an exciting research programme and demonstrating the potential to acquire grant funding. We are looking for an empirical ecologist with expertise in areas that complement and enhance our teaching and research portfolio. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: ecosystem ecology, soil microbial ecology, aquatic-terrestrial linkages, ecological applications to sustainability and machine-learning/AI approaches to ecological data analysis. Candidates whose research is multi- or inter-disciplinary are encouraged to apply

Applicants will hold a PhD degree in a relevant discipline. Applicants will have experience in generating high-quality publications and success – commensurate to career stage – in gaining research funding from the UK research councils, charities, industry or other funders. We strive for excellence in research, in the dissemination of research outcomes and in teaching.  We are therefore looking for candidates with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The Department’s expertise spans the biological sciences from molecular and biomedical sciences to ecology, evolution and behaviour. This post aims to build on and expand our research portfolio and will contribute to the teaching in our degrees. Applicants are expected to design and supervise research projects for our undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.

In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including generous annual leave and training and development opportunities.  The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Professor Vincent Jansen, Head of Biological Sciences
