Job Description

The successful candidate will work with A/P Cynthia He on flagellum biogenesis in Trypanosoma brucei, an infectious pathogen causing diseases in humans and animals.

The main responsibilities of the position include: - 

1. Advanced molecular engineering of Trypanosoma brucei, transient and stable transfection of this eukaryotic parasite. 
2. Advanced imaging of T. brucei, live and fixed, using confocal microscopy, super-resolution microscopy and electron microscopy. 
3. BioID and other interactome studies.

Qualifications

PhD in molecular and cell biology with relevant training in kinetoplastid cell biology.

Skills:

Advanced molecular, cell and biochemistry in T. brucei or other related pathogens. Candidates must be familiar with advanced imaging methods including electron microscopy, confocal microscopy and super resolution microscopy.

Experience:

Prior experiences with BSL2 pathogens, particularly unicellular pathogens/flagellates.
