The Faculty is now seeking a well-established scholar to lead the efforts in capacity building in the Faculty, for continuous development and enhancement of the Faculty’s overall research/scholarship portfolio. More specifically, the Faculty is looking for an outstanding scholar in education with the following characteristics:

(i)         Excellent research/scholarship record in one or more education disciplines (preferably interdisciplinary), with sufficient and demonstrable scholarly reputation internationally;
(ii)         Considerable administrative/leadership experience in an education faculty (school), especially in capacity-building efforts and in research and faculty development; considerable experience in institution governance at different levels (e.g. department, faculty and university levels); sufficient understanding of assessment rubrics and metrics relevant for evaluating an education faculty;
(iii)        Expertise in educational research methods, especially quantitative methods, data analytics, learning sciences and technologies, and educational and psychological measurement/assessment; ability to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in these areas; ability to provide training and/or to teach courses in academic research and writing relevant to research publications of doctoral students;
(iv)        Sufficient professional experience in both western and eastern social/cultural contexts, and good understanding of the similarities and differences across these social/cultural contexts relevant for an education faculty; good experience and record in collaborative research endeavors internationally;
(v)        Very active current research programs/agenda that is likely to lead to a high level of research productivity in the coming years, especially research programs/agenda that may involve doctoral students and junior faculty members; sufficient experience and record in seeking and obtaining grant funding for research; sufficient experience in providing mentorship and guidance for junior faculty members to support their efforts in achieving excellence in research and scholarship;
(vi)        Extensive experience in professional services internationally, such as book editorship, journal editorship, editorial boards, review of competitive grant proposals, organization of international conference programs & symposiums, etc.

Under the leadership of the Dean of the Faculty, the appointee will play a key role in capacity-building initiatives and efforts in the Faculty. Appointment will be made at full professor rank and substantive appointment can be considered for candidates with proven international academic standing and leadership as well as an exceptional record of research and scholarship. The appointee will be affiliated with the Department of Educational Psychology under the Faculty of Education.
