At TU Dresden the Faculty of Business and Economics invites applications for the position of a  

Junior Professorship (W1) in Business Management, esp. Management Science 

initially limited to a four-year contract, to be filled as soon as possible. If the interim evaluation is positive, the employment contract will be extended to a total of six years. 

Evaluation criteria mutually agreed upon when the position is accepted will form the basis of the evaluation procedure. Key performance criteria are  publications in internationally ranked journals, participation in international conferences, the development of innovative teaching content in the field of management science, the offering of courses also in English and their positive evaluation, as well as the acquisition of third-party funding.

You will conduct research and teaching activities in the field of Business Administration, esp. Management Science. The teaching is to be provided in the faculty's bachelor, master and diploma programs, in particular in Business Administration. The initial teaching load is four academic hours per week. Your willingness to cooperate actively with both the members of the faculty and other disciplines within the university is a prerequisite, as is the acquisition of external fundraising. Your research should be characterized by modern methods of operations research. This includes e.g. mixed-integer programming, non-linear programming, simulation, stochastic optimization and equilibrium modeling. Solution methods, such as metaheuristics / matheuristics, decomposition methods and parallel algorithms for large industrial applications will be essential parts of your research. 

You have an excellent relevant doctorate (or equivalent) and have already proven that you can publish research results in international top journals and present them at international conferences. We expect excellent knowledge in mathematical modeling and the solution of economic decision problems, e. g. in the fields of production, logistics, energy and sustainability. In addition, knowledge of data-driven methods in the area of big data and business analytics is desirable. We expect good teaching skills as well as your ability and willingness to offer courses in English. Proficiency in German is not a prerequisite for appointment. However, we expect the successful candidate to acquire language skills sufficient to conduct teaching and administrative tasks within two years of appointment. Applicants must fulfill the employment qualification requirements of § 63 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG).
