  • Part time (0.4FTE), fixed term appointment for 12 months
  • Salary range: Level B, $102,983 - $121,864 p.a. pro rata plus 9.5% superannuation (increasing to 17% on or after 30 June 2021)

About the team

The UWA Medical School is the largest and longest established medical school in Western Australia. It delivers a 4-year post-graduate MD course to local, national and international students. The School also has substantial and successful research programs across most disciplines in the medical sector.

The Division of Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics and Pain Medicine provides high quality and innovative teaching to medical students throughout the course across multiple clinical sites in the Perth metropolitan area.

About the opportunity

You will have the responsibility of providing assistance in the coordination of Emergency Medicine teaching at all WA teaching hospitals where final year MD students are placed at the sites to gain experience in all aspects of emergency medicine. You will ensure that the appropriate academic outcomes are achieved and adequate, suitable placements are available for all students.

You will also be expected to develop and manage relationships with Emergency Medicine clinicians at the sites to ensure a successful outcome in this role. Engagement and collaboration with academic colleagues and the wider medical profession will ensure students receive an appropriate, relevant and supportive educational experience. The student wellbeing and academic collegiality will also be a key outcome for this role.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Registered, or able to be registered with AHPRA as a health practitioner in Western Australia
  • Recent experience in clinical practice as a health professional within the discipline of emergency medicine, preferably in the last five years
  • Experience as a tutor and/or supervisor of health professional students and/or junior doctors
  • Experience in clinical education including procedural skills and simulation
  • Effective organisational, verbal and written communication skills and negotiation skills
  • A significant personal contribution and commitment to high quality teaching at all levels
