The Faculty of Social Sciences welcomes applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join its Faculty Operating Service, as a Faculty Administrator based at Highfield Campus. As a member of our team, you will make an important and rewarding contribution to our exciting, varied and engaging activity across our University, working with colleagues and students from diverse and interesting backgrounds.

The Faculty Operating Service works with Faculty Deanery and School Senior Leadership Teams to support those areas of work which provide essential services to our core business of education, research and enterprise. We underpin the achievement of the strategic objectives of the University. Our students and staff come from a wide range of backgrounds, within the UK and internationally, creating a multicultural and diverse community. Successful applicants will be motivated, enthusiastic and proactive team players who are culturally sensitive and are able to work effectively in a flexible and responsive environment.

As a member of our busy and engaged administrative team, you will deliver a thoughtful and efficient service which meets the requirements of the Faculty’s varied and interesting activities across five academic schools, including: Business; Law; Mathematical Sciences; Education; and Economic, Political and Social Sciences. You will provide professional, operational assistance and administrative support to senior academic members of staff, performing a range of responsibilities which might include working on projects and activities, diary management and event organisation, travel arrangements, minute taking, financial administration, website updates, social media and organising group meetings, facilities and resources. You will be able to build strong relationships and partnerships with internal and external organisations and groups and be able to liaise confidently with your stakeholders. Your career so far might include some administrative work experience which allows you to use your own initiative, as well as manage your own time effectively with minimal supervision, or be looking for an opportunity to take a useful and relevant step in your career post-study.

Excellent organisational, communication and people skills are essential. You will have strong IT skills for example being a competent user of Microsoft Office and similar software. Several positions are available, on a permanent basis.
