The mission of the Centre for English and Additional Languages (CEAL) at Lingnan University, a leading liberal arts institution in Asia, is to enhance the English language skills of Lingnan students and to provide language support to help students succeed in their academic studies and future careers. The Centre provides compulsory and elective English courses as well as organising a range of co-curricular language activities. CEAL also offers courses in additional languages such as Korean, Japanese, Spanish, and French.

The Centre is looking for Lecturers to teach, develop and coordinate courses in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and English for Specific Purposes (ESP). The appointees are also expected to perform administrative duties.

General Requirements

Applicants for the position should have: (i) at least 4 years’ relevant experience, including a minimum of 2 years’ experience in teaching EAP/ESP courses at university level, preferably to students of humanities, social sciences and/or business studies; (ii) a master’s degree or above, and a PhD is preferred; (iii) a qualification in teaching English as a second/additional language; (iv) an excellent command of English; and (v) preferably expertise/interest in one or two of the following areas: creative writing, literature and language arts, e-learning, independent language learning, language assessment, or teaching of speaking and pronunciation.

Appointment

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity, and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee. Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for two years.
