The opportunity

As a Senior Lecturer / Lecturer in Software Engineering, you’ll be responsible for developing and delivering a variety of high quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop research partnerships with colleagues at Hubei University and/or continue to carry out your own research and publish the results working with colleagues at Manchester Metropolitan. You will be able to take part in knowledge transfer and business engagement opportunities, developing partnerships to share best practice or exploring the possibility of collaborations.

About you

To succeed, we will need you to have a good first degree and PhD in a relevant discipline (or equivalent qualifications). You will also need two years’ university teaching experience, preferably gained in a UK context. You will be supported to gain a teaching qualification if you do not have one.

An in-depth understanding on the subject of Software Engineering is essential for this role and membership of any relevant professional bodies is also desirable. You will be committed to ensuring teaching content is stimulating, inspiring, appropriately challenging and reflective of the current state of the discipline and / or professional subject bodies. You are also adept at using initiative, creativity and judgement when undertaking research and scholarly activities.

Further details

The post is based in Manchester with two secondments per year working at Hubei University.  The appointment is initially for four years, and it will be considered permanent after this point. You’ll be based at Hubei University’s campus in Wuhan for up to 9 months per year, with paid return flights to the UK mid-way through the year for a vacation. The successful candidate will receive an attractive support package including free accommodation on campus while at Hubei University, relocation expenses and a comprehensive induction programme.
