Background

The School of Health Sciences is part of a highly successful and vibrant faculty. Frequently commended for our partnership working across the health and social care sector, the School delivers a range of undergraduate and post graduate courses that lead to registration in nursing, midwifery, health visiting/school nursing, speech and language therapy, operating department practitioners, and paramedic science. We also have a wide portfolio of post qualifying provision including the MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice, and the MSC in Interprofessional Healthcare Simulation (due to commence 2022). In addition, the Faculty has recently created the Institute of Lifecourse Development which brings together researchers and practitioners from Health, Education and Human Sciences to tackle a range of lifecourse related issues. 

The University is currently investing over £3 million in the development of state-of-the-art simulation centres to support teaching, research and enterprise activities. As part of this development, the University is employing Clinical Simulation Fellows to support the School of Health Sciences undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and simulation-based research and enterprise activities.

The post

The post has two main components: designing, delivering, facilitating, and monitoring/ evaluating simulation courses for a range of health-related disciplines across the School; and participating in simulation-based research and enterprise projects.

The person

The person will be a qualified healthcare professional possibly with a teaching qualification, and either experience in, or an interest in simulation-based activities. We are looking for a motivated individual who has a passion for education, research, and enterprise, who is looking for opportunities to be supported in their personal and professional development in some, or all these areas.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone from a healthcare background or working part-time clinically, with experience or an interest in simulation to be part of an exciting new development. You will work with our experienced team including the School’s Deputy Head of Research and Enterprise, the Academic Simulation Lead, and the Clinical skills and Resource manage to implement and embed simulation-based activities and further develop the simulation agenda within the School. 

Full or part-time considered, including joint appointments or secondments, with agreement from your current employer. The post holder will have opportunity to benefit from the University’s continuing professional development offer, including modules that contribute towards HEA fellowship. Opportunity also exists to undertake an MSc in Interprofessional Healthcare Simulation (commencing January 2022) and doctoral studies through a professional doctorate or PhD programme.
