Centre for Energy Systems and Strategy within Energy and Power theme welcomes applications from Industrial Energy Systems Modelling researchers.

About the School of Water, Energy and Environment

Energy and Power is one of eight themes at Cranfield University offering world-class and niche post-graduate level research, education, training and consultancy. Our unique industrial-scale facilities underpin our research and development in energy technologies, including biofuels, biomass for energy, carbon capture and offshore oil and gas. As one of the four centres within Energy and Power, Centre for Energy Systems and Strategy pioneers multi-disciplinary approach by bringing together energy and power systems modelling, digital tools (peer to peer trading, AI), social, policy and regulatory aspects of energy transitions, with a focus on simulation and modelling.

About the Role

You will contribute to low carbon mobility systems modelling activities on EPSRC-funded Mobility as a service: MAnaging Cybersecurity Risks across Consumers, Organisations and Sectors (MACRO) project. You will be leading the development of an agent based model to analyse how data sharing and cybersecurity behaviours may influence the development of low carbon mobility-as-a-service applications. You will have opportunities to collaborate with academic (Universities of Kent and Bath) and government agencies (including Oxfordshire County Council, Kent County Council, South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership and Transport for the South East) throughout the project.

About You

You will have a PhD (obtained or near completion) in agent based or mathematical modelling or transport systems modelling involving working with large data sets and be fluent in agent based or formal modelling methods, with the ability to develop new ones, with a particular focus on interactions between power and transport sectors. With excellent team-working and inter-personal skills, you will have peer reviewed journal publication record.

In return, you will have exciting opportunities for career development in this key low carbon mobility systems modelling position, and to be at the forefront of world leading research and education, joining a supportive team and environment. There will be opportunities for you to engage with other state-of-the-art research projects being carried out at Cranfield University, including UKRI Trustworthy Autonomous Systems Node in Security.
