Job Description

A postdoctoral research position is available at NUS Mechanical Engineering, under the supervision of Dr. LIM Kian Meng. The project aims to develop an advanced computational tool for modeling and simulation acoustic radiation forces and the motion of microparticles under the influence of ultrasound. The scope of research includes mathematical modeling and formulation of problem, development of numerical schemes to solve the model, and numerical simulation of the motion of particles under ultrasound field. The candidate is expected to work on an existing in-house code, extending the formulation and numerical scheme to obtain results for trajectories of particles in an ultrasound field. Previous hands-on experience in acoustics simulations, partial differential equations (boundary element method, multipole expansion, time-marching schemes), and scientific programming (C/C++ and Python) are preferred.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should have a PhD degree (or expect the degree within 6 months) in a related field of Engineering or Science, with demonstrated capabilities listed below:

  • Acoustics simulations
  • Partial differential equations (Multipole expansion, Boundary element method)
  • Numerical techniques (Time-marching schemes)
  • Scientific programming (C/C++ and Python)
