Student Services is a diverse group of services and providing the very best student experience is at the heart of everything we do. We have a brand new and exciting opportunity to join us as part of our new Student Communities and Events team.

Reporting to our Head of Student Engagement, the successful postholder will be responsible for planning and delivering student-focused co and extra-curricular events and campaigns, which create a sense of belonging and proactively engage our students as proud members of our community. The team have ownership for the development and delivery of these initiatives from the point of a student accepting a place at Southampton all the way through their student journey with us. Example areas of responsibility will include welcome and transitions and creating regular campaign periods on key activities such as student wellbeing.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant passion for working collaboratively with students 
  • Experience in event management roles, however this does not need to be specifically within Higher Education 
  • The ability to quickly develop relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues from across the University and Student Union 
  • Proven experience of creating and delivering innovative and exciting events and activities

Skill level equivalent to achievement of HND, Degree, NVQ4 or basic professional qualification related to events management is also an essential requirement for the role.

Some of our student events will be delivered outside of core working hours, therefore you will need to be willing to demonstrate some flexibility in your working hours. If you thrive on variety and are comfortable juggling a broad range of responsibilities, then we would very much like to hear from you!

The salary range for the role starts at £30,942 per annum. Further benefits include the opportunity to join the University’s pension scheme, 30 days annual leave and access to a number of University employer discount schemes.
