Applications are invited for one 36 month fixed term Research Fellow in Pure Mathematics, under the EPSRC project EP/V002899/1 “Boundary representation of non-positively curved groups”, to start on 1 July 2021.

The successful candidate should have a PhD* or equivalent professional qualification in Pure Mathematics along with research experience in Geometric Group Theory and/or in Functional Analysis/Non-commutative Geometry, ideally specializing in one or more of the following: CAT(0) cube complexes, boundaries of non-positively curved spaces, representations of Lie groups, Baum-Connes conjecture.

The project entails constructing families of uniformly bounded representations of discrete groups acting on CAT(0) cube complexes, and/or hyperbolic groups, using their action on the boundary. The work is related to understanding the representation theory that is relevant for the Baum-Connes conjecture.
