Lecturer in Ecology & Environmental Management – 0.4FTE, Permanent - Research or Learning and Teaching pathway

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Ecology & Environmental Management in the School of Applied Sciences to undertake teaching and research that complements and extends our existing strengths within the Animal and Plant Science group (see details at https://www.napier.ac.uk/research-and-innovation/research-search/centres/animal-and-plant-science-research-group).  

Research within the group is undertaken in terrestrial, freshwater and marine environments and from individual to ecosystem level, with a particular  emphasis on how different aspects are impacted by humans, and how to better manage such impacts. We have a strong reputation for applied education and research within life sciences, and are looking to develop our current capacity and expertise. This brings an exciting opportunity for a part-time Lecturer in Ecology & Environmental Management to join our team.

The role 
As a Lecturer in Ecology & Environmental Management you will develop and deliver high-quality teaching and assessment to support undergraduate programmes in Animal & Conservation Biology and Marine & Freshwater Biology as well as our MSc in Wildlife Biology & Conservation. This will include modules relating to practical ecological survey methods and species identification, applied aspects such as conservation and environmental management, as well as supervising and supporting student project work. 
We are interested in candidates who can bring relevant experience from either an academic or professional ecological background to complement and develop existing strengths within the Animal and Plant Science group and have a well-developed collaborative network with the potential to contribute to research and the student experience.

Who we are looking for
The ideal candidate will have:

• A doctoral level qualification in a relevant discipline
• Experience of development and delivery of teaching and assessment in practical habitat and species survey methods and identification of one or more taxonomic groups
• Evidence of commitment to enhancement and innovation in teaching and contribution to the development of new programmes/modules
• Clearly identified ability to complement and enhance existing strengths within the Animal and Plant Science group
• Established collaborative network, with potential for expanding collaboration within the School and with external partners
