Department of Decision Analytics and Risk

Southampton Business School has an ambitious quality driven strategy, which will see us strengthen our position as a world-class Business School in research, education, and enterprise. As an AMBA and AACSB accredited Business School we are seeking to recruit a number of outstanding individuals for key research and teaching positions in a number of disciplines as outlined below to play a crucial role in the School achieving its vision.

Applications will be considered from candidates interested in part time hours of 0.6FTE and above.

As part of a world-renowned Top 100 QS ranked Russell Group University with a global reputation for academic excellence, we offer a stimulating, challenging and dynamic working environment for all our staff. The Business School is a strong part of the University with successful undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, a large PhD portfolio as well as MBA and DBA degrees.

The Department of Decision Analytics and Risk is a leading authority in management science, risk, and analytics, realised and delivered through research, education, and consultancy. We develop innovative analytical approaches for improving decision making and risk taking and support individuals and businesses to make sound and effective decisions. Our strengths have been recognised by QS being in the Top 50 Universities in terms of Operational Research and Statistics in the world and top 10 in the UK. Our vision is to be a thought leader in innovations that have significant impact on organisations and society in the areas of operations, risk, analytics and management science. Our department is highly interdisciplinary, collegial, and lively.

You will have a PhD (or equivalent degree/professional qualifications and experience) in Business Analytics / Management Science and an established track record of research publications at a minimum ABS 3* level (or equivalent standing), coupled with research grant activity. We are looking for new members in different specialisms such as, but not limited to, simulation, optimisation, analytics, health analytics, behavioural science and artificial intelligence, with applications in, but not limited to, healthcare, consumer behaviour, and operations (including project management).

The successful candidate will be part of the Operations Projects Purchasing & Supply (OPPS) group, which is a subset within DARR.  OPPS strength  is its focus on strategic issues and it is more qualitative in nature  - although we welcome candidates with expertise and capability in quantitative areas. You will also demonstrate a strong interest in innovative approaches to teaching and be expected to provide research support (as appropriate) and mentoring to others in the group.

For applicants interested in a Part Time role, please note: This role is unlikely to support a Certificate of Sponsorship with a part time salary amount (a Certificate of Sponsorship is required to obtain a Skilled Worker visa to work in the UK).
