The department

Talent 25 is a long-term action research programme and a partnership between Arts Council England (ACE) and De Montfort University (DMU). Its vision is to explore the vital points of intervention in a child’s life which ensure that all individuals have a wide range of cultural experiences and opportunities to unearth their creative talent.

 

The role

An exciting role has arisen for a Leads Arts/Creative Practitioner to join our team on a 24 month, 22 hour per week basis! The Talent 25 Lead Practitioner role will plan, coordinate, and help deliver a programme of creative workshops and other activities for early years children and their families, including online or face-to-face workshops depending on social distancing policy. A critical part of this will be to ensure, working with research colleagues, that the programme responds to the needs and interests of Talent 25 families, and enables families to actively shape the activities they participate in. As the lead practitioner they will also support the recruitment, coordination, and mentorship of other practitioners delivering the programme and support and nurture creative practice with other Talent 25 practitioners to extend knowledge about a high-quality creative provision in early years.

 

The person

We are looking for an individual with experience of creative delivery and cultural engagement with early years, and co-creating activities or projects with families or communities. We are especially interested in candidates with the ability to communicate verbally with members of the public, individually and in groups, adapting communication style to different audiences and experience of working with a diverse range of families. Suitable candidates will have knowledge of a child-centred approach to early years arts/creative practice and cross artform practice, demonstrating flexibility across more than one discipline. Moreover, the candidate will possess the ability to build internal and external networks, strong team working and interpersonal skills, and effectively communicate and represent the mission of the Talent 25 programme to the general public.
