The School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy, and Politics at Queen’s University, Belfast, is one of the UK's leaders in internationally recognised research and teaching in International Relations. The School seeks to appoint a lecturer to work in the field of International Relations, broadly defined, to support research and teaching at all levels. International Relations has a diverse and vibrant research culture in the School, with particular strengths in Critical Security Studies; Conflict, Terrorism and counter-terrorism; International Political Sociology; Non-State Violence; War Studies; Migration; Borders; Energy and Resource Politics; and Women in Politics.  We are interested in candidates with expertise that amplify our current strengths in International Relations, but who can also extend our coverage of the following areas:

• Geopolitics
• International Political Economy
• International Organization
• Security Studies

The person appointed will play a central role in all the School’s research and teaching activities, with a specific focus on helping to (a) strengthen and consolidate our Undergraduate degree in Politics & International Relations; (b) advance our MA degrees in International Relations; Violence, Terrorism & Security; and Global Security and Borders; and (b) support the development of our new MA degrees in International Public Policy and Geopolitics.

The successful candidate must have:

• Have a PhD or equivalent in International Relations or Political Science.
• Record of publication of internationally recognised research outputs (commensurate with career stage).
• Evidence of independent contribution in research projects and outputs.
• Internationally recognised research standing and ability.
• Teaching experience commensurate with career stage, including undergraduate or postgraduate teaching, project supervision, assessment and feedback experience.
• Ability to teach across International Relations.
• A track record of leadership, demonstrated as evidence of leadership of, or significant contribution to major initiatives that significantly improved education, research or administrative processes.
