The Role

• Fixed Term (until December 2021), Part Time - 17.5 hours per week
• $39,525 to $42,773 pa (plus 17% superannuation)
• Albury-Wodonga or Wagga Wagga

The First Nations Health Student Adviser Rural Health, under the direction of the First Nations Health Lead, will be responsible for the implementation and evaluation of a range of services, provided in an inclusive and holistic approach, to facilitate First Nations student recruitment, participation and success in health courses at Charles Sturt University.

To be successful you will have:

• A degree, normally with 2 or more years subsequent relevant experience or equivalent
• Identify as a First Nations Australian
• Demonstrate a level of knowledge and understanding of First Nation cultures and societies
• Demonstrate an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with First Nations Australian people
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment

The Three Rivers University Department of Rural Health (UDRH) is based at Charles Sturt University in the Riverina and Central West region of New South Wales. Three Rivers UDRH is committed to growing and supporting the future rural health workforce.

The key activities of the UDRH are:

• Raising the aspiration and success of First Nations and rural students from the outer regional and remote footprint of the UDRH;
• Growing capacity for collaborative quality community-led rural clinical training, particularly in smaller regional communities and across expanded practice areas such as disability, aged care, mental health and primary care;
• Evaluating the activities of the UDRH, researching rural health workforce capabilities and trialling approaches to service delivery to enhance the health of rural Australians; and
• Fostering the development of future rural health capabilities by developing new multidisciplinary resources and training programs.
