About the role /College

The RMIT trading facility (RTF) is amongst the largest tertiary-based facility of its type in Australia. The courses and program run in the RTF is part of RMIT Businesss commitment to providing graduates with real-world skills. The use of the facility has expanded in recent years to include a broader base of simulation-style teaching in the vocational, undergraduate, and postgraduate coursework programs.

The selected candidate will contribute to optimal usability, maintaining, and promoting RTF. The candidate must possess knowledge of dealing rooms and trading in financial products gained from professional, business or community experience. Being a leadership position, the industry fellow of the trading Room (ideally- the Senior Lecturer in Practice) will be leader in determining the most appropriate use of the trading room facility to enhance the teaching and learning effort of the Finance Discipline.

The principal purpose of the role is to enhance the usability and utilisation of trading facility to Finance Disciplines Learning and Teaching as well as Research goals.

Effective discharge of the position will mean that the Finance Discipline will be an international leader in the adoption of best practice in using the most appropriate data and software currently available to facilitate the optimal use of the trading room in delivering innovative curriculum and training.

About you

As a level C practice academic you will show strong leadership in professional scholarship and/or practice and in engagement with external stakeholders. You will be expected to have a high level of awareness of professional activities at a national level and/or a network of industry connections and strategic alliances. You will be also expected to be contribute to the overall delivery of teaching in the courses in the Trading room.

As the Senior Lecturer, Industry Fellow you will also have/be able to:

  • Demonstrate a significant personal contribution and commitment to high quality teaching at all levels with the ability to conduct financial simulations in a trading facility or similar environment.
  • Familiarity with software providers or capacity to investigate software, develop familiarity and make recommendations.
  • Ability to lead and manage a leading-edge IT laboratory facility for education and research
  • Experience with the development of operational manuals and in the delivery of in-house training sessions communicating the use of the facility to staff members.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues, students and industry and professional bodies.

Qualification

Mandatory: A PhD or equivalent in finance which will be significant industry experience in portfolio management.
