Applications are invited for joint appointments as Post-doctoral Fellow in Finance, Technology and Regulation (several posts) in the Asian Institute of International Financial Law within the Faculty of Law and the HKU-Standard Chartered Foundation FinTech Academy within the Faculty of Engineering (Ref.: 503549), to commence on September 1, 2021 or as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal for up to one additional year subject to satisfactory performance. The posts will be based in the Asian Institute of International Financial Law within the Faculty of Law and will work closely with the new HKU-Standard Chartered Foundation FinTech Academy. The Academy is housed within the Faculty of Engineering in close cooperation with the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Business and Economics.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Law, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Finance or any other areas related to finance, technology and regulation; knowledge and ideally experience of issues relating to FinTech, RegTech and digital finance; strong communication and organizational skills; sensitivity and commitment to cultural awareness; and the ability to work with a high degree of independence.  They should also demonstrate proven ability to develop and pursue a coherent agenda of legal research and/or interdisciplinary scholarship; significant experience of presenting research at domestic and international conferences; and exceptional potential to develop a body of high-quality publications in scholarly journals.

The appointees will work as part of one of the world’s leading research teams working on finance, technology and regulation and work closely with a strongly interdisciplinary team drawn from across the University as part of the HKU-SCF FinTech Academy as well as teams working on collaborative research projects around the world.  They will be expected to develop and pursue a coherent agenda of legal research and/or interdisciplinary scholarship; research complex ideas, concepts or theories and apply appropriate methodologies; present research at domestic and international conferences; develop a body of high-quality publications in scholarly journals; and drive forward global impact.  For enquiries of the posts, please contact Ms. Flora Leung at +852 3917 2941 or email fkleung@hku.hk.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
