We aim to hire a Research Fellow to develop a theoretical research programme at CQT on the glassy properties of quantum localization and in the research fields of Mesoscopic physics, Statistical Physics, Condensed-matter.

Project framework and goals:

Anderson localization is a key mechanism of non-ergodicity in disordered quantum systems, with prominent examples such as the insulating state of disordered materials or the absence of thermalization for many-body closed systems. Glassy physics is another paradigm of non-ergodic behavior which arises in classical disordered systems. Its study has led to important theoretical breakthroughs like the concept of spontaneous replica symmetry breaking and has found applications in e.g. optimization or biology. Recently, there have been analogies drawn between these two domains and the purpose of this research position is to develop this link. This could bring a new light on quantum localization as a quantum glassy phenomenon and allow us to discover new effects.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Qualification: Ph.D. in Physics
  •  Experience in at least one of the following areas: Quantum disordered systems, quantum transport, glassy physics. A strong command of state-of-the-art numerical simulations is required.

Remuneration will commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Duration of Contract: up to 1 year (subject to funding availability and performance appraisal)
