About University and Faculty

Palacký University Olomouc is the second-oldest university in the Czech Republic, educating scholars since the 16th century. Olomouc is also the site of the second-largest historical monuments preserve in the country (after Prague). The conservation part of the city is home to over 23,000 students from all over the world. The leading traveller guide Lonely Planet has ranked Olomouc for two years in a row among the top ten European destinations, claiming that “Olomouc is one of the Czech Republic´s most underrated destinations, with a great nightlife scene and a mini-Prague feel.” Dozens of parks, cafés, and mysterious nooks, theatres, diverse music clubs, and varied sports centres – all this will be at your fingertips.

The Faculty of Arts is the largest fakulty of the university and offers more than 600 combinations of humanities, social, linguistic, and arts studies programmes. The Faculty of Arts offers a liberal approach in arranging one’s own curriculum, a personal approach to students, and development of individual skills. An open space for discussion is promoted and creative thinking is welcome.
