Position overview

ANU has an international reputation for research and education relevant to the health and well-being of the population of Australia, as well as that of the developing world. This is achieved through discovery research, applied research in health service settings, research-led teaching in health and medical sciences, and the translation of research findings into practice and policy. The ANU College of Health and Medicine comprises the Research School of Psychology, the ANU Medical School, the John Curtin School of Medical Research and the Research School of Population Health. These schools work together to deliver world-class research and education across the spectrum of medicine and health.

The Rural Clinical  School (RCS) of the ANU Medical School is  an  established  program  funded  by the  Commonwealth Department of Health under the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program (RHMTP). The RCS has five nodes across south-east New South Wales, and provides an integrated rural curriculum across all 4 years of the MChD course, including  6 week and  year-long rural placements Year 3 cohort and short-term placements in year 4. The school also provides support to the local communities and the health professionals who work in these regions.

This position is based at the Rural Clinical School, within the ANU Medical School. Travel between Canberra and  the RCS locations will be required. Reporting to the Head, Rural Clinical  School  , this  position will make a significant contribution to the rural program by further developing and coordinating an integrated rural teaching program, supporting rural academic staff, and fostering a strong rural research program. The position will also liaise with members of the Medical School and deputise for the Associate Dean RCS.

Level C Academic (Teaching and Research) is expected to make significant contributions to the teaching effort of the RCS. The Senior Lecturer is also expected to play a major role in scholarship and/or professional activities and  may also be required to supervise or mentor less senior staff, and undertake leadership roles as applicable

Level D Academic (Teaching and Research) is expected to make a significant contribution to all activities of the RCS and play a significant role within their profession. The Associate Professor will be required to supervise or mentor less senior academic staff, and undertake leadership roles as applicable Academics at this level may be appointed in recognition of distinction in their disciplinary area in research and/or education.
