Joint Programme Director (Part-time)/Senior Lecturer - Clinical Psychology

Job description

We are recruiting for a Joint Programme Director (Part-time)/Senior Lecturer, Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Education Pathway) and we are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Psychologist to join the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Queen’s University, Belfast. The programme, which is the only one in N. Ireland, is based in the School of Psychology; a vibrant and collegial department. The Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme is accredited by the British Psychological Society and approved by the Health and Care Professions Council. At the most recent BPS accreditation visit in 2019, the programme received three commendations. The programme is renowned for its trainee research output, its interprofessional education programme and close working with NHS stakeholders. This is a prestigious and unique role for a leading clinical psychologist to influence the excellent provision of clinical psychology training in N. Ireland into the future. You will lead and manage a range of clinical and academic activities for the programme including clinical skills teaching and assessment, evaluation of clinical placements, interprofessional psychology education and recruitment and selection of trainees. This post is a Part-time (0.6fte) permanent appointment.

You will work closely with the current programme Director and the wider clinical psychology profession in N. Ireland to deliver excellence in clinical psychology training. The programme team are ambitious, compassionate and collegial and strive to deliver excellent training with an innovative and developing programme. Applicants with expertise in any clinical speciality are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate must have:

  1. Honours degree in Psychology or equivalent, which confers eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society.
  2. HCPC Registration as a Clinical Psychologist.
  3. PhD or equivalent (e.g. Professional Doctorate)
  4. Record of having engaged in clinically relevant scholarly activities (e.g., evidence of using pedagogical knowledge to inform key educational initiatives, publication in peer reviewed journals or equivalent, conference presentations, involvement in committees relating to education in professional organisations).
  5. At least 5 years’ experience of teaching postgraduates
  6. At least 5 years’ experience of being a clinical supervisor in clinical psychology
