Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the School of Biological Sciences (Ref.: 503445), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, or Bioinformatics.  Those with backgrounds in structural biology (cryo-EM), biophysics, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or molecular biology are also welcome to apply.  The appointee will work in the DNA replication group headed by Dr. Yuanliang Zhai (HKU), Dr. Shangyu Dang (HKUST) and Professor Bik Tye (HKUST/Cornell) to carry out a collaborative research in the Replisome Project.  This project is funded by the Research Grant Council of Hong Kong through a Collaborative Research Fund grant which aims to investigate the cryo-EM structures and function of DNA replication machinery, the replisome, in human and yeast through structural (cryo-EM), biochemical, molecular and genetic studies.  Comparative analysis of these two systems using a combinatorial of techniques is a powerful approach to study the complex mechanism of DNA replication by the replisome along chromatin DNA.  More information about the research can be found in the publications at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=Yuanliang+Zhai or the website at https://zhai95.wixsite.com/mysite-1.  Enquiries about the post should be sent to Dr. Zhai at zhai@hku.hk.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.

The University only accepts online application for the above post.  Applicants should apply online and upload an up-to-date C.V. with the name of two or three referees and a statement of research interests.  Review of applications will commence as soon as possible and continue until September 30, 2021, or until the post is filled, whichever is earlier.
