The Centre for Alcohol Policy Research (CAPR) is an innovative, world-class, multidisciplinary research facility at the forefront of informed alcohol policy development, currently led by Professors Emmanuel Kuntsche and Robin Room. The Centre, which receives funding from the Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education (FARE) and La Trobe University, examines alcohol consumption and-related harms and the effectiveness of alcohol-related policies.

About the role

The successful candidate will work within a project team including leading Australian researchers in the field and will undertake key analyses of policy, survey and other data sources dealing with alcohol consumption and related harm in Australia. Specifically, we are seeking a candidate who has sound analytical skills, and a strong interest in alcohol-related public health. This position will also work together with the Centre Administrator and Project Coordinator and the Communications Officer and Knowledge Broker on internal and external communication activities.

Skills & Experience

To be the successful candidate in this position, the preferred candidate will have:

  • Completion of an Honours or Masters degree in the relevant discipline, and evidence of participation in higher level study relevant to discipline or professional area.
  • Evidence of experience in research and evaluation and the ability to work effectively under limited supervision or independently.
  • Experience in the analysis and modelling of data, including the capacity to integrate data from a range of sources and of uneven quality.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
