Job Description
One Research Fellow (RF) position available in January 2021 in the laboratory of Dr. Liu Xiaogang at NUS chemistry department.
My group will leverage recent advances in developing novel nanomaterials with designed luminescence properties. We use advanced synthetic techniques as the underlying approach for organizing nanoscale building blocks into complex integrated systems and exploring new science and applications in diverse areas, including 3D volumetric display, bio-imaging and sensing, optoelectronics, and high-energy detection. Given that the low quantum efficiency is a technical hurdle for practical applications, a comprehensive understanding of the diffusion of excitation energy at the nanoscale is highly demanded because the energy transfer has been identified as a key factor that determines the luminescence in metal-doped nanocrystals and quantum dots. In this respect, our long-term goal is to develop innovative experimental techniques for enhancing both the linear and nonlinear luminescence efficiency of these nanomaterials. In particular, we will dedicate our efforts to use the optimized luminescent nanoparticles for the development of bioanalytical tools.
We are seeking a highly-driven and creative Research Fellow to join us in our efforts to develop luminescent nanocrystal-based bio-probes for in vivo imaging and photon-associated diagnosis and therapy. Efforts will also be devoted to the quantitative study of the optical response of given nanomaterials to the variation of environmental temperature.
Qualifications
The candidates must hold an internationally recognized Doctoral degree in materials chemistry, optical physics, chemical engineering, or strongly related fields, and should have proven track record of excellence in preparation and characterization of luminescent nanomaterials. Candidate with experience and knowledge in nanoparticle-based bioanalytical techniques is preferred.
Interested candidates are invited to email a detailed resume, supporting documents, and the contact details of three references to: -
