The School of Computing Technologies is a centre for digital innovation, world class research, and education in STEM via streamlined collaboration across relevant disciplines.

The School is led by the Dean, School of Computing Technologies, and has three disciplines:

  • Data Science
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Cloud Systems and Security.

Our PhD students and faculty conduct world leading research in:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Search and Recommendation
  • Machine Learning
  • Data Analytics
  • Distributed Computing
  • Cybersecurity

The strong focus on technology will drive the development of new capability platforms and enable the ability for RMIT to be embedded within industry and leading local and international research organisations.

About Role/you

The Senior Lecturer will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School. The incumbent is to make a significant contribution to the delivery of programs and to be actively involved in research, consulting and other professional activities. You will work to develop, engage in and lead high quality research projects that are aligned with the Universitys research focus areas to achieve success in attracting research funding and to produce high quality outputs.

The Associate Professor will provide leadership and foster excellence in teaching and research efforts of the School, within the University, and with the community, professional, commercial and industrial sectors. More specifically, you will be responsible for providing original, innovative and distinguished contributions to the Schools programs for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities relevant to this discipline at a national and international level. As an Associate Professor will also teach and make a significant contribution to teaching and learning in the discipline with the aim of improving learning outcomes for students.

Both roles require:

  • Teaching and research expertise in design, development, application, and evaluation of modern innovative (e.g., speech-enhanced, haptic, augmented/mixed/virtual reality, ubiquitous, etc) interactive interfaces and associated topics (e.g., usability, data visualisation, etc).
  • Ability to coordinate large courses and prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including high quality curriculum and program materials and ability to implement innovative approaches to student-centred learning and quality improvement, particularly those in topics such as human-computer interaction, data visualisation, human-centred computing, virtual/mixed reality, interaction design, ubiquitous computing, or others related to interactive interfaces.

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent in relevant field.
