About the role
The International Student Services (ISS) team partners with colleagues across the Students Portfolio and La Trobe International to deliver programs and services that enhance the transition, engagement and overall study experience of the University’s international student population.
The Senior Support Advisor, International is responsible for providing high level response and advice to complex international student issues and plays a critical role in complex case management support for international students and ensuring policy, compliance and program needs are met regarding international student support.
Responsibilities will include:
Skills & Experience
- Consult & liaise with internal stakeholders to support successful outcomes for students
- Address complex enquiries and student or other customer feedback and provide advice and support responses to the Manager ISS or Deputy Director Advising and Success to ensure successful resolution
- Develop tailored case management plans with identifiable goals and monitor student progress in order to support ongoing engagement, persistence and academic success
- Provide operational support and guidance to ensure that activities and services for international students are delivered in a coordinated successfully
- Maintain compliance and professional standards, including monitoring, reporting and record keeping practices.
To be successful you will have:
- An undergraduate degree in an area relevant to the position with at least four years subsequent experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience
- Demonstrated experience in complex case management, preferably within a higher education setting
- Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the capacity to work collaboratively and cooperatively in small teams and one-to-one and with a wide variety of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated organisation and problem-solving skills, with an ability to manage several different projects concurrently and to work independently
- Demonstrated capacity in student engagement program design, delivery and evaluation (on campus and/or online)
