Job Purpose

To support us to serve BPP students in the Student Engagement area and other areas where required. The role is an exciting opportunity to organise and attend events, network with internal and external stakeholders, and work in a role that has national coverage working with around 13,000 students across 10 university centres across the UK.

Job Background

The post-holder is expected to:

  1. Plan and run welcome events, including fresher’s fairs, induction activities, Students’ Association socials, and support student led events
  2. Maintain and upload information to the Students’ Association website
  3. www.bppstudents.com including events and news articles and develop new content in conjunction with other members of Student Services
  4. Liaise with local and national businesses to secure discounts for BPP students
  5. Support students’ clubs and societies, ensuring they are set up correctly and follow set processes, provide advice & guidance on advertising & promotion, setting up online events, booking rooms, arranging refreshments
  6. Manage a set budget for the clubs and societies, making payments, including handling expense claims and managing the budget spreadsheet
  7. Maintaining the Virtual Campus platform (www.community.bpp.com) and uploading information to it, for example discounts from local companies, and student events
  8. Produce the Clubs and Societies section of the bi-monthly Student Life magazine
  9. Managing and developing the social networking presence of the Students’ Association – including Facebook, Twitter & Instagram
  10. Managing online social presidents to organise and assist with events, including regular catch-up meetings, and approving budgets for events
  11. Monitor the Student Engagement inbox daily to meet SLA’s and ensure deadlines are met
  12. Offer general help and support to students, and referring on to the relevant people and teams as necessary
  13. Record data as required to monitor the performance of the service
  14. Make suggestions for improvements to the services offered, and work on the implementation of changes where required
  15. Represent and promote the Students’ Association as required at meetings and events
  16. Travel to other sites as requested
  17. Maintain an awareness of current developments in relevant areas, and of developments in the practices of peers and competitors
  18. Perform from time to time other duties to support the team
  19. Attending meetings with the Students’ Association and other teams
  20. Assisting with the collation of student feedback

Required Skills

  • A confident, motivated and professional ethos
  • Organisational skills with the ability to work towards achieving multiple deadlines and completing assigned tasks
  • A desire for working in a student-centred workplace and delivering outcomes that are student-focused
  • Excellent communications skills, with the ability to liaise with students, staff and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work part of a wider team and independently without supervision
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programmes including Word, Publisher and Excel

  • Knowledge of planning and executing online and face to face events
