Full Professorship (W3) of Special Education
(Special Educational Needs in Hearing,
Including Inclusive Education

commencing as soon as possible.

The future chair holder should represent the professorship for the Special Needs in Hearing (Education for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired) in teaching and research in its entire breadth.

Teaching responsibilities include participation in the implementation of special education courses and responsibility for the interdisciplinary school and school-adjacent Bachelor’s degree courses “Prevention, Inclusion and Rehabilitation (PIR) for Hearing Impairment (B.Sc.)” and the consecutive school and school-adjacent Master’s degree courses “Prevention, Inclusion and Rehabilitation (PIR) − Deaf and Hearing Impaired Education (M.Sc.)”, including the State Examination, which lead to employment in the teacher profession of special needs education with the subject area of education for the deaf and hearing impaired or to professional activities with a specific academic profile, including the supervision of internships at support centers, special education needs in hearing and in pre-school, school-adjacent after post-school areas of activity.

Research will address the occupational areas of activity of prevention, teaching, inclusion, and rehabilitation of people with different types of hearing impairments in all age groups, covering aspects of both spoken and manual communication and making its results applicable for training in school and school-adjacent areas of activity in an innovative manner.

Prerequisites for this position are a university degree in Special Education, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification, teaching skills at university level, excellent academic achievements and a productive and promising research program.

In addition, the successful candidate should have a teaching qualification in Special Education and at least three years’ experience in practical teaching in a school or an equivalent educational institution.

Experience in acquiring external funding is expected.
