The department is committed to creating and maintaining a research environment that spans the entire breadth of psychology. Our research expertise includes Experimental Psychology with a focus on Neuroscience, cognitive, cross-cultural, endocrinological research, typical and atypical (including neurodevelopmental conditions and mental health), comparative, and prenatal development, and research on behaviour change in public health, social policy, risk management, diversity and inclusion, sustainability, and leadership settings. The department benefits from cutting-edge research facilities including a 3T fMRI scanner, TMS, EEG, NIRS, excellent facilities for rodent behavioural neuroscience, observational studies, state of the art mobile and lab-based eye tracking, whole body motion capture, immersive virtual reality, sound-attenuated rooms, a fully equipped molecular diagnostics laboratory, and infant and patient testing facilities. The Department of Psychology is an internationally recognised centre of research excellence and interdisciplinarity across the breadth of psychological and behavioural science.
