A unique opportunity, bridging IT infrastructure and support together with world leading research and enterprise teams to deliver the true potential of High Performance Computing (HPC) at the University of Greenwich.

The Research and Enterprise Systems Engineer is responsible for actively engaging the University’s HPC community whilst providing a hybrid HPC environment which supports colleagues in maximising their research and enterprise outcomes. This is achieved through the effective management and orchestration of people, products, providers, and processes, driving the implementation of functional enhancements.

The role sits within the Infrastructure Team, in the Information & Library Services Directorate (ILS), complementing the existing operations function, specifically for the management of the HPC environment. The role holder will indirectly report to the Director of Greenwich Research and Enterprise and the HPC Steering Group.

This individual will have solid HPC management experience, strong inter-personal skills and excellent vendor management skills, in addition to a service-oriented approach to HPC operations. This successful individual will be responsible for operational and service management processes to ensure that quality, efficiency, and agility goals are achieved. In terms of technical skills, a proven track record of success within the Linux System Administration field which includes proficient skills in scripting and automation.

As a member of the ILS Directorate, the role contributes to the development and execution of the University’s Digital Strategy. It also ensures its alignment with the University’s Research and Enterprise aspirations and those of academic colleagues in delivering high value research outcomes.
