QUB seeks to appoint a Research Fellow. This postdoctoral position is to work on a PaCCS (Partnership for Conflict, Crime and Security Research) grant with a team of Fellows of the Senator George J. Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice. Entitled ‘Sounding Conflict: From Resistance to Reconciliation’, the project analyses sound, music and digital media in conflict regions from Brazil to the Middle East and Northern Ireland. The successful candidate will conduct research to assist the team in delivering the outcomes of this project. The successful candidate will have demonstrable ability to develop research in the intersections of sound, music and society/conflict transformation/peacebuilding/politics.

The grant is led by Professor Fiona Magowan (School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics) with CIs Professor Pedro Rebelo (Sonic Arts Research Centre) and Dr. Stefanie Lehner (School of Arts, English and Languages) and project manager Christina Captieux.

The successful candidate must have:

• A relevant 2.1 Honours Degree in an area related to this research.
• A PhD completed in Sound, Music, Anthropology, Politics or in the fields that are the focus of the research.
• 3 years relevant experience developing research that addresses the intersections of sound, music, society/conflict transformation/peacebuilding/politics.
• A high quality publication record appropriate to stage of career.

This post is available as a part time role (0.5 FTE) for 7 months
