About the position

We have a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Fellow at Department of Biology.

The position is available in the research group of Professor Haman in the Multiscale Biology section of the Department of Biology. Background information about the Multiscale Biology section and the Department of Biology can be found here: http://www.bio.ntnu.no/eng/ .The research group is investigating the mode of action of the plant cell wall integrity maintenance mechanism. Further information about the research area and specific interests of the research group can be found in two recent publications: Gigli-Bisceglia et al., Cell and Molecular Life Sciences 2020; Vaahtera et al., Nature Plants 2019.

The position is supposed to strengthen and expand already existing expertise in plant biology, development and cell biology.

Therefore, we are particularly interested in applicants, which have worked previously in plant physiology.

You will report to Thorsten Hamann.

Required selection criteria

Postdoctoral fellow:

A postdoctoral research fellowships is a qualification position in which the main objective is qualification for work in academic positions. You must have completed a Norwegian doctoral degree in molecular biology or corresponding foreign doctoral degree recognized as equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree is required.

If, for any reason, you have taken a career break or have had an atypical career and wish to disclose this in your application, the selection committee will take this into account, recognizing that the quantity of your research may be reduced as a result.

The appointment is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants and national guidelines for appointment as PhD, post doctor and research assistant.

  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Very good knowledge about plant metabolism also in the context of plant stress biology
  • Very good expertise in standard metabolomics and/or proteomics methods.
  • Very good written and oral English language skills

Preferred selection criteria

  • Experience in academic teaching at the undergraduate and MSc student level
  • Experience with research in food and/or bioenergy crops
  • Bioinformatics skills
  • Basic knowledge in biophysics / biological modelling
  • Involvement in academic outreach activities

We offer

Salary and conditions

Postdoctoral fellowship:

The employment period is 3 years

Postdoctoral candidates are placed in code 1352, and are normally remunerated at gross from NOK 545 300 per annum before tax, depending on qualifications and seniority. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.

The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criteria in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU. After the appointment you must assume that there may be changes in the area of work.

The position is subject to external funding.

It is a prerequisite you can be present at and accessible to the institution daily.
