FINANCIAL COORDINATOR, Mechanical Engineering (MechE), to coordinate sponsored research grants, contract management, and overall financial activities for the department. Will coordinate the submission of grant proposals, preparing budgets and forms, reviewing materials, and working with PIs and OSP for submission of funding applications; monitor and manage a portfolio of accounts, including initial setup, payment of invoices, grant extensions, and project close-outs; ensure full compliance with rules and regulations; develop standard and non-standard reports, tools, templates, and resource material; maintain suite of reports; coordinate with the Research Subawards Office to perform subaward functions, including setup, change orders, invoice payments, and closeouts; monitor financial review and control activities; and provide financial training and guidance regarding MIT policies and procedures, procurement, accounts payable, journal vouchers, travel expense reports, and requests for payment.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in a related field; at least three years’ experience in finance or accounting; knowledge of federal research regulations; experience in academic programs and administration; meticulous attention to detail; strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills; sound judgment with confidential and sensitive information; and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Must be able to take initiative; multitask and meet short turn-around times; interact effectively with people at all levels; and work in a fast-paced, challenging, and team-based environment.
PREFERRED: Knowledge of and experience with MIT financial systems and sponsored accounting; proficiency with SAP, COEUS, and electronic proposal submission software; grants management experience; and broad understanding of BrioQuery/COGNOS. Job #18656-7
