ASSISTANT DEAN FOR DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION, School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (SHASS), to serve as a strategic partner to the dean and leaders in the school’s departments, labs, and centers (DLCs). Will develop and collaboratively implement programs and activities that advance the school’s commitment to a diverse, respectful, and caring community for staff, students, and faculty.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in a related field; at least ten years of experience; a track record of success in recruiting and retaining women and underrepresented minority talent, strategic program design, delivery and evaluation around issues of community and climate, and working with faculty on student support; ability to function autonomously in a highly visible position; sensitivity to organizational dynamics with ability to build and foster relationships across the school and with colleagues at MIT; excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; ability to handle varied tasks concurrently in a fast-paced setting; discretion with confidential information/issues; experience developing and managing budgets and planning events; and facility with standard office software applications and database tools.  Seek a self-starter who demonstrates initiative and flexibility, along with the ability to anticipate issues, analyze data, and solve problems creatively and effectively. 

PREFERRED:  a graduate degree and experience in a higher education setting.
