Job Description Summary

This is a full time research technician position in the McKay Orthopaedic Research Laboratory of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. The research focus of the group is on mouse genetic and cellular signaling in musculoskeletal injury models. Duties: The candidate will maintain mouse lines and provide technical assistance to post-docs, graduate students, and research staff within the group. The candidate will assist other lab members in the execution of projects involving small animal (mouse) handling. The candidate will also assist in molecular and histological analysis of cells and animal tissues derived from ongoing projects. Other duties will include maintenance of laboratory equipment (including computers and website), laboratory stock solutions, and keeping an organized notebook.

Position is contingent on continued funding.

Qualifications:

BS in biological field of study and 0-1 year of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. The candidate must be self-motivated, reliable, responsible, and comfortable with quantitative and cell-based research methods. Previous experience in biomedical research is preferred. Good organization and communication skills are required. Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required, and some familiarity with computer networking and troubleshooting is a plus.
