Water Data Analyst

The Water Resources & Civil Infrastructure Group within Sustainability & Energy Management in LBRE is responsible for operation and maintenance of roads, bridges, dams, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and the water distribution systems and is currently recruiting for a newly created Business Analyst position.

What you will do in this role:

  • You will continue development and implementation of water systems operations and use data collection, analytics and reporting processes and tools, working with the Water/Civil Group staff. 
  • The effort includes thorough review of metering data configuration, data flow continuity and categorization to facilitate trending, billing, reporting, and formulation of templates for documenting system changes, use variances/reports, and data adjustments.
  • Analyze and document current water business, operation and financial procedures, such as invoicing and PO vendor payment process, EBS utility billing functions/process, Oracle eAM (Enterprise Asset Management) for asset programing and preventative maintenance.  Work in partnership with Finance & Administration and SEM Business Systems focusing on water database communications and other related items. 
  • Collaborate in UAT water application testing before go live of water applications such as Watersmart, LBRE-IT applications, EBS utility billing updates/patches, oBI reporting upgrades, mobile eAM application enhancements and eAM upgrades/patches.
  • Create reporting solutions based on business process and data use for Water Resources & Civil Infrastructure. Conduct monthly water use and waste water in EBS, the utility billing system. 
  • Collect, review and administer billing system data. 
  • Responsible and accountable for entering, updating, correcting water use data into database system such as EBS.
  • Create new meter sites, meter changes/updates, site removals, manual read/input. 
  • Verify water ITRON water metering management information. Download and upload monthly meter read data to/from handhelds and EBS Utility Billing System.  
  • Develop eAM asset management systems information into eAM, create PM activities and routes, create and assign PM schedules.
  • Back-up WO management functions, invoicing/PO, and timecard reconciliations as needed.

To be successful in this role you must bring:

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics or engineering.
  • Knowledge of software systems design and operating principles including business process mapping, system architecture, business rules development, database design, database administration, and other functions required to create and sustain operations of modern computerized business processes for the university facilities management and utilities industry.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices, especially as related to development of computerized business processes.
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree and three years relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of computer system capabilities, business processes and work flow.
  • Understanding of the software development life cycle.
  • Experience with enterprise applications and understanding of database driven applications.
  • Skill in conducting interviews.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to bridge functional and technical resources by Communicating effectively with individuals of varying systems expertise and business needs.
  • Listening, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to maintain good customer relations with clients and external vendors and partners.
