The Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology is seeking a Life Science Research Professional 4 (LSRP4) to serve as Organoid Core Director at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Stanford School of Medicine, the oldest medical school in western United States, is devoted to training tomorrow's leading physicians and scientists, conducting cutting-edge biomedical research, and creating new ways to prevent and treat disease across the world.

The Division of Hematology is a progressive and dynamic center for basic and translational science, clinical research, patient care, and teaching, where clinicians, scholars, investigators, and trainees work together to harness the power and resources of Stanford Medicine in the pursuit of excellence.

The LSRP4 will perform functions and activities involved in managing the implementation of this exciting new organoid technology to grow 3-dimensional “mini-organs in a dish” for disease modeling, precision medicine, basic science investigations and biobanking initiatives. The LSRP4 will supervise multiple technical staff and report to the Faculty supervisor. As additional LSRP positions are added, this position will be involved in selection and interviewing the right candidates and possibly supervise those positions. This position will take the lead in managing the lab as well as engage in individual scientific research focused on cancer therapeutics development.

Responsibilities include representing the Organoid Core via written and oral presentations to stakeholders including NIH, private foundations and philanthropic donors.  The LSRP4 must interface extensively with clinical and basic science collaborators, manage major portions of complex research projects, prepare NIH and other Core facility grant applications and participate in manuscript writing for original scientific contributions. Additionally, the LSRP4 must optimize media formulations for diverse organoid types based on the published literature and empiric testing.  In addition to supervisory activities the LSRP4 will be hands-on in the lab for wet bench experiments.

The ideal candidate will have a science degree (MS/PhD) and be intimately familiar with laboratory research. Excellent organizational skills and familiarity with government- and industry-funded research, as well as health and safety requirements, are essential. The lab uses organoids to model cancer and this position will have an opportunity to contribute to this organoid research and new discoveries. The LSRP4 will represent the cutting-edge research with internal stakeholders, collaborators from other educational institutions, donors, sponsors, and federal agencies.
