Job Description Summary
This position is an integral member of a molecular biology lab with a focus on studies of kidney disease development. They will be primarily involved in collecting and analyzing human tissue samples, rnicrodissecting samples organizing clinical and histological information. In addition the incumbent will be performing research experiments, but also will be involved in directing aspects of the research activities of a laboratory.
A Bachelor's Degree, preferably in science, and 0 to 1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Previous experience or acquaintance with methods used in molecular biology laboratory is a plus, but not required, especially if the individual is ambitious and highly motivated to learn.
Position is contingent on continued funding.
- Collect and organize human tissue samples, collect clinical and histological information and organize
- Microdissect human kidney tissue samples
- Isolate RNA and DNA, measure concentration and examine quality
- Perform and genotyping quantitative PCR (
- Prepare histological slides, cutting and staining of samples
- Compile and document research results and assist in data interpretation
- Operate computer equipment in the collection and tabulation of research results
- Send and receive samples and data interact with collaborators
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
