PROJECT ASSOCIATE I, Political Science-MIT Governance Lab, (MIT GOV/LAB), to support a principal investigator (PI) and MIT team with new projects in sub-Saharan Africa. Will coordinate relationships with partner organizations and assist with fieldwork logistics and research; assist with coordinating the work of research assistants who conduct data analysis, design data collection tools, and provide other research assistance; assist with drafting and editing study protocols and descriptions; assist PI in the field, providing logistical support for events and meetings, weekly reporting, and other administrative duties as needed; and edit guides and documents on new projects, partnerships, and research processes that can serve as a resource for researchers and external parties.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in political science, economics, international development, or a closely related social science field; at least two years’ relevant experience with at least one year working in developing countries; proven ability to prioritize activities and successfully complete projects on tight deadlines with little supervision; attention to detail; discretion and good judgment with sensitive and confidential issues; ability to use clear, precise language when writing, including when doing so for nontechnical audiences; and effective speaking and relationship-building skills.

The position will be based in Cambridge, MA with international travel estimated at up to twenty-five percent (length of trips varies based on project responsibilities) to sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on Nigeria.
This position is initially for one year with the possibility of extension.
