SENIOR GRANTS ADMINISTRATOR, Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), to manage an assigned sponsored projects portfolio, focusing on final proposal review and submission, award acceptance, and post-award modifications. Will work on a variety of grants/contracts from NIH, NSF, DOD, NASA, and other sponsors; interpret and ensure compliance with regulations/guidelines; act as back up lead liaison with one or more government agency; support, guide, and mentor assistant contract administrators (ACAs) and assist them with resolving departmental research administration issues/problems; support MIT administrators with interpreting sponsor application requirements and utilizing sponsor systems; provide staff training; interpret and communicate requirements on cost sharing, matching, and institutional contributions prior to budget development; follow up with principal investigators on requirements or IRB, export controls, and other non-financial compliance areas; ensure proposal submissions and award receipts are recorded in Kuali Coeus; maintain updates and communications related to current grants/contracts; terminate and close out awards; monitor preparation of reports; obtain instructions and disposition of overruns, etc.; keep abreast of changes in sponsor requirements/legislation; and perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; seven years’ research administration and relevant financial management experience, preferably in an academic/medical environment; excellent interpersonal, customer service, and written and verbal communication skills; experience delegating to and training junior staff; ability to interact effectively with DLCs/government agencies/contractors; experience interpreting and communicating guidelines/rules; meticulous attention to detail; flexibility; ability to meet concurrent deadlines and to work independently and as part of a team; thorough knowledge of federal guidelines and procedures (preferably NIH, NSF, DOD, and NASA); and proficiency with MS Office (including strong Excel skills), databases, and other systems. Kuali Coeus experience a plus.
