SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT, GIFT ACCOUNTING, Controllership-Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR), to join a team responsible for managing financial data and overseeing reconciliations. Will identify, research, and resolve reconciling items and handle final reconciliations during fiscal and calendar year-end closes; and run endowment spending distribution reports, manage corrections related to endowment units and income, and perform monthly reconciliations. Responsibilities include assisting with endowment/gift/pledge/investment accounting and reporting; financial analysis; evaluating, documenting, and implementing process improvements; monthly reconciliation of endowment gifts received; preparing quarterly gift accounting reports; running and reconciling monthly endowment spending distribution report; preparing detailed calculations for endowment unit and income corrections; reviewing fund notes to prepare entry to transfer income to another fund or reinvest in fund principal; preparing gift/pledge data for Form 990 tax filing; assisting with monthly journal entries; requesting new internal orders and general ledger accounts; participating in audits; and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/related business area; three years’ financial operations/accounting/auditing experience, preferably at a nonprofit; strong customer service, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills; advanced-level Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); ability to swiftly identify issues and resolve (or escalate) with minimal guidance, ensure timely delivery of responsibilities/assignments, manage multiple tasks, and work collaboratively; strict attention to detail and accuracy; discretion and good judgment with sensitive/confidential information; flexibility; and willingness to pitch in with the team to accomplish tasks.
PREFERRED: experience with SAP or similar enterprise accounting systems, Brio Query, Data Warehouse, and/or BSR Advance gift system; CPA certification; knowledge of GAAP for gift/pledge accounting and net asset class restrictions; and higher education/MIT experience. Job #19096-7
