Applications are invited for an experienced academic to join the Childhood and Early Years team at Northumbria University. Working within the  Department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing, the subject area of Education, Children and Young People is a large and diverse discipline, which includes post graduate studies for qualified teachers and academic colleagues new to Northumbria,  undergraduate early years and childhood studies, as well as a range of initial teacher education programmes.  Although primarily attached to the Childhood and Early Years team you will have the opportunity to teach across a number of programmes, including MA provision. You will contribute to all aspects of the academic development of students, as well as liaising with academic colleagues across the university undertaking continuing professional development.

You must be able to demonstrate knowledge of effective approaches to innovative higher education learning and teaching. You should have experience of supporting the teaching and learning of students on undergraduate Childhood and Early Years Studies programmes. An ability to apply an holistic approach to the childhood and early years field would be an advantage; please indicate your specific areas of expertise within your application.

You will be doctorally qualified in the field. You must have expertise in teaching and learning with specialist knowledge gained through research activity within the higher education sector or beyond. Proven ability to deliver high quality research led teaching within an appropriate field and a strong research profile are essential for this role. You will have fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

Working in the Department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing, you will be a member of a vibrant academic community that is multi-disciplinary, with social justice at the heart of what we do. You will work flexibly as part of a team, to contribute to teaching, research, enterprise and engagement. Your role may involve Programme Leadership within the department, and you may be required to undertake teaching and leadership roles across the department.
