RESEARCH SCIENTIST, Comparative Media Studies/Writing-MIT Scheller Teacher Education Program (MIT-STEP), to join a project-based learning (PBL) team. Will collaboratively design and study an asynchronous online teacher professional development (PD) experience for high school teachers along with studying the creation and implementation of a synchronous PD for school support staff (principals, instructional coaches, etc.) to build capacity to support a shift to PBL. Responsibilities include the design of tools and materials for professional development; leading and supporting research using mixed-methods for design-based research; coordinating with partner schools and institutions; adapting and creating research instruments; working with a research and teacher coaching team to create, define, collect, organize, clean, and analyze data; and publishing articles/reports for scholarly and practitioner communities.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: earned doctorate in learning sciences, education, or a related field; expertise in mixed methods, design-based research; experience designing and executing sophisticated research designs; deep knowledge of teacher professional development and adult learning; a publication track record; interest in advancing excellence and equity in education through improving professional learning experiences for educators and students; excellent communication and technical skills; and ability to work independently and contribute to an interdisciplinary team.
PREFERRED: at least three years’ research experience, experience as an educator in formal or informal education, experience with project based learning, and ability to work on an ever-evolving project. Job #19224

This is a temporary, twelve-month position with the possibility of renewal depending upon funding.
