  • Full-time, on-going opportunity; based at RMIT Bundoora but may require working at other campuses of the University
  • Opportunity for an experienced Lecturer in Human Anatomy to contribute to the teaching and learning efforts of the Human Biosciences discipline including anatomy service teaching into Chiropractic, Osteopathy and Chinese Medicine programs
  • Utilise your experience in delivering high-quality and authentic learning opportunities to students using digital & interactive and immersive teaching technologies, in-line with the School, College and the University strategic goals
  • Report directly to the Assistant Associate Dean, Biomedical Science (Human Biosciences); and for course coordination, work collaboratively with the relevant Program Manager
  • Remuneration at Academic Level B ($98,495 - $116,965) + 17% superannuation

The School of Health and Biomedical Sciences comprises three Academic Clusters (Allied Health, Applied Health, and Biomedical Sciences). Primarily based at the RMIT Bundoora campus, we undertake teaching and research across ten disciplines: Chinese Medicine, Chiropractic, Exercise Science, Human Biosciences, Laboratory Medicine, Medical Radiations, Nursing, Osteopathy, Pharmacy and Psychology. Many of our programs include Work Integrated Learning as an intrinsic part of student learning, both through placements in partner industries and through the Universitys student led Health Sciences Clinic located at Bundoora.

About You and the Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing and delivering independent teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level including human anatomy-based curriculum; preparing, conducting and moderating assessment; implementing improvements informed by course evaluation activities and student feedback;
  • Cultivation of strong relationships & partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities through engagement and promotion of program via networks, maintaining memberships, links and partnerships; as well as participation in the on-going process improvement within this discipline and across the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences;
  • Conduct and deliver high-impact research/scholarly activities both independently and as a member of the team, including publishing research outcomes as lead or co-author in highly ranked journals, conferences and forums, submitting and actively identifying appropriate research grants & funding, involvement in collaborative projects and supervision of higher degree by research students;
  • Actively participate in varied administrative duties based on the level of appointment related to the goals of courses and small award programs of the organisational unit.

Qualifications

Mandatory: PhD in Biomedical Sciences or related Health or Science areas with equivalent industry experience in the field related to Human Anatomy coupled with a good research record.

Desirable:

  • Candidates with demonstratable experience in preparing high-quality and impactful lectures, tutorials, and demonstrations with a focus on human anatomy incorporating the use of cadaveric specimens and innovative teaching technologies and digital capabilities; experience with online delivery of course material for students undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs.
  • Candidates who have in-depth knowledge and/or hands-on experience teaching in areas of Biomedical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering and/or Exercise Sciences are encouraged to apply.
  • Evidence of high-quality academic and published research track record in high impact journals & articles and contributing to the development of new research initiatives, external research funding submissions and strong linkage to industry and government will be highly regarded.

Preferred: Completion of the Essentials in Tertiary Teaching Practice program or equivalent (if the appointed candidate does not meet this requirement at time of appointment, they will be supported to complete this as a requirement to fulfil their probation).

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
