One position of staff scientist/PostDoc (0.5 FTE) is available in the research group of Dr. Richard Stefl (http://stefl-lab.ceitec.cz; CEITEC, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic) to participate in research focused on the crosstalk between transcription and DNA repair. We are seeking a person with expertise/experience in molecular biology techniques (DNA cloning, protein purification, work with insect and/or mammalian tissue culture).

Research will be conducted at CEITEC located in the life science campus of Masaryk University (Brno, Bohunice, https://www.ceitec.eu/).

Description of the position

The prospective candidate will take part in the research of the group. Their main task will be to prepare protein samples that will be used for structural analyses. This will involve preparation of suitable vectors using techniques of molecular cloning, optimisation of protein expression in either bacterial or insect cells, and optimisation of protein purification.

Prospective candidates should fulfil the following criteria

  • High motivation, flexibility, and self-driven interest to learn new things
  • PhD molecular biology, biochemistry or relate fields of life sciences received within the last 7 years
  • Experience in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (from molecular cloning to protein purification), as well as work with tissue culture (insect, or mammalian cell lines)
  • Good English language – spoken and written
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)

Desirable but not required

  • Motivated person with collaborative mind set
